New to MAC Cosmetics? Don't know what to purchase? Wondering what

Hi makeup lovers!!
So today I decided that I would share with you a couple of my favorite MAC products. They're fairly basic products that I recommend checking out, especially if you have never tried MAC. I know going to a MAC counter for the first time can be intimidating and confusing. They have so many products and colors and different collections. So, to help you sort it all out here are some products I would recommend:

Eyeliner: Smolder (Eye Kohl), Teddy (Eye Kohl), and Blacktrack (Fluidline)

Mascara: Haute & Naughty Lash

Foundation: Studio Fix Powder and Studio Fix Liquid

Blush: Dainty (Mineralize Blush)

I hope this helps give you an idea of some basic MAC products to check out.

China Glaze Black Mesh and OPI Not Like The Movies Review

I am so stoked I finally found a place selling Not Like The Movies from OPI's Katy Perry collection! When I first found out that Katy Perry was going to have an OPI collection I was so excited, I really thought it was going to be amazing! But then I saw numerous swatches online and when looking at the polishes in person I really wasn't too excited about this collection. It was kind of a disappointment. However I decided that out of all of them Not Like The Movies was the most unique and actually opaque polish in the collection so I decided to pick it up. And I'm glad I did! It took three-ish coats to get a really opaque finish on the nails, but that being said the color itself is really neat! In some lights this polish looks slate grey, while in others it is a lavenderesque purple, and when the light hits it just right it looks mushroom green with golden shimmers. I don't know if I would wear this color by itself to be honest, but I definitely love it as a base color with a design on top. In short, if you are wanting to get a polish from the OPI Katy Perry collection, I would recommend this one.

AND I also picked up all of the China Glaze crackle polishes! They're SO much fun!!! I've always been into arts and crafts and when I was little I remember I used crackle paint on some art project and I wanted so badly for it to be a nail polish...well now that dream has come true! lol. There are seriously millions of manicure color combinations when using the crackle polishes. In the picture below I have on Not Like The Movies as my base color and Black Mesh Crackle on top and it is so my style. I love things that are girly with a little bit of a rock and roll edge and these two colors together definitely provide that. Oh yeah! And because I always like a little bit of glitter, on my ring finger I have China Glaze's Fairy Dust...and like always I topped it all off with Seche Vite top coat.

P.S. sorry for the poor photo quality, I had to use my phone today because my camera has decided to go M.I.A.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's day everyone! If you have a sweetheart I hope that you both have an amazing day. And for those like me who don't and maybe feel lonely or sad...realize that come tomorrow it will be another day and it really won't matter.

Valentine's personally is my least favorite day of the year. I mean I'm 20 and haven't ever had a valentine on Valentine's day...but I know one day I will and I will understand what the fuss is about on this day. But for now, the following is a poem by Rudy Francisco (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR1_2lFXJI4) And even though my "love life" is incredibly complicated right now...this poem always manages to put a smile on my face and hopefully one of you will find it does the same.

I want you to bite my lip until I can no longer speak. And then suck my ex-girlfriends name out of my mouth just to make sure she never comes up in our conversations. I’m going to be honest, y’all I’m not really a love poet. In fact, every time I try to write about love my hands cramp just to show me how painful love can be. And some times my pencils break just to prove to me that sometimes love takes a little more work than you planned. I heard that love is blind so I write all my poems in braille. And my poems are never actually finished because I true love is endless. See I’ve always believed that real love is sorta like a supermodel before she’s airbrushed. It’s pure and imperfect, just the way that God intended. I’m gonna be honest though I’m not a love poet. But if I was to wake up tomorrow morning and decide that I really wanted to write about love, I swear that my first poem it would be about you. About that I learned to love you the same way that I learned how to ride a bike...scared. But reckless with no training wheels or elbow pads so that my scars can tell the story of how I fell for you. You see I’m not really a love poet. But if I was I would write about how I see your face in every cloud and your reflection in every window. See I’ve written like a million poems hoping that some how maybe someway you would jump out of the page and be closer to me. Because if you were here with me right now I would massage your back until your skin sings songs that your lips don’t even know the words to. Until your heartbeat sounds like my last name and you smile like the pacific ocean. I want to drink the sunlight in your skin. Yo if I was a love poet, I would write about how you have the audacity to be beautiful even on days when everything around you is ugly. You see I’d write about your eyelashes and how they’re like violin strings that play symphonies every time that you blink. If I was a love poet I would write about how I melt in front of you like an ice sculpture. Every time that I hear the vibration in your voice or whenever I see your name on the caller id my heart plays hopscotch inside of my chest. It climbs onto my ribs like monkey bars and I feel like a child all over again. I know this sounds strange but I pray that God somehow turns you back into one of my ribs just so I would never have to spend an entire day without you. But I swear I’m not a love poet, but if I were to wake up tomorrow morning and decide that I really wanted to write about love, my first poem, it would be about you. And after all of that she was like, “So how do you feel about me?” And I said lets put it like this. I want to be your ex-boyfriends stuntman. I want to do every things that he never had the courage to do like trust you. I swear that when our lips touch I can taste the next sixty years of my life. And some days I want to swallow stacks of your pictures just so that you can be a part of me for a little bit longer. If I could I would sample your smile and then I would let my heart be the base line and we would create the greatest love song of all time whenever we stand next to each other. Love, I was the only one made for you and you can be At Last by Etta James. And I’ll be ooh child when you’re in pain and you can be candy coated drops of rain even though it never rains in Southern California. And together we can be music. And when my friends ask if you’re my girlfriend I’ll say no, she’s my musician. And me, I’m her favorite song.

The bold parts are some of my favorite lines. Anyway I'll have a new beauty blog for you tomorrow!! Thanks for reading! xoxo

MAC Wonder Woman, Dainty, and Silver Dusk

OMG I can't even tell you how excited I am right now!! I just picked up my order from MAC at the mail room after I got out of class!

First of all I am SOOOO glad I purchased what I did from the Wonder Woman collection! I was slightly nervous seeing as I had never seen the products in person, but I had seen a couple swatches on YouTube. Additionally, I don't tend to pick up limited edition items because I always fall in love with them and then can't find them once their sold out. :[ I would have to say that my only complaint about MAC is the constant release of new limited edition collections. If anyone with any power at MAC ever sees this...I beg you to re-release Springtime Skipper from the Barbie loves MAC collection. I bought two of those at the time and I am just about done with the second one...I knew I should have purchased more. lol.

Anyway, back to the Wonder Woman collection...I ordered the Mighty Aphrodite blush and the Pink Power Mineralize Skin Finish. I was nervous the skin finish was going to be too dark for me. Afterall, it is winter and I have made a resolution to not indoor tan this year. So I am currently a NW 15, you can see my reason for concern. lol. But ohmigoodness these colors are gorgeous!!! They are sheer but build-able for those looking for a more intense color payoff. Like most all MAC products, these seem to be very pigmented and I have a feeling they will last quite a while. In addition, the packaging is super cute and original. It's a very almost vintage-y feeling to the compacts with the red and blue color scheme and the Wonder Woman logo on the front. They definitely scream comic book (in a good way). Again, I have to say way to go MAC you've pulled off another great limited edition collection...lol.

Also with this order, I purchased the Dainty mineralize blush and Silver Dusk loose powder. I had heard Dainty was comparable to NARS' Orgasm blush. From the swatching I have done in the past at Sephora I would have to agree. Granted I do not own Orgasm to do a side by side comparison of the two...but from what I can remember they're pretty similar. Dainty is a beautiful peachy-ish pink blush with golden shimmers. It is very pigmented and blends beautifully to give the perfect glowy pink cheeked complexion! And Silver Dusk I can tell is going to be one of my favorites for a long time. It is the first highlight that I've ever really used and liked. It's a iridescent powder that like dainty gives your cheeks the perfect glow. Just make sure you tap off the excess really well before applying or you could end up looking like Edward Cullen in Twilight in the sunshine...but if you're into that go for it! lol. But seriously I love this for my complexion it is so beautiful and amazing. MAC also makes a slightly darker golden iridescent powder for those who aren't as pale as myself. You will probably see that being reviewed this summer once my tan returns!

Seche Vite

Today I picked up a Seche Vite topcoat. Now I have heard great reviews of this product and have been quite curious to try it myself. So when I saw this I had to pick up a bottle for myself. I am SO glad I did! This is the MOST amazing topcoat I have ever used!! And let me tell you I have used a lot of topcoats. I am a person who changes their nail polish as soon as the smallest chip appears...which translates to just about every day. Supposedly Seche Vite will preserve your manicure for up to ten days so I will be putting this claim to the test for sure! Supposedly the reason Seche Vite dries so wonderfully is because it penetrates all the layers of polish you've applied and bonds them together. Seche Vite makes any polish you have on super glossy and shiny looking. And it even smoothes out and perfects little blemishes in your manicure. I can tell already, this will be making it to my list of top products of 2011. <3
